Laser hair removal consultation is critical. Before anyone starts laser hair removal treatment, you must have a laser hair removal consultation. I have lost count of the number of clients who have come to MediSpa Jouvence for laser hair removal, after having laser elsewhere first. When we tell them we have to begin with a consultation first, they say “really I never had one before!” Or they will say they had laser before, and don’t need a consultation, only to find out they were never a good candidate for a laser treatment in the first place.
All laser hair removal treatments must begin with a free consultation to determine if you are in fact a good candidate to do the treatment. I have had countless clients come in for a consultation who have already had laser treatments somewhere else. They tell me they never had a consult before beginning laser hair removal at the other location. They simply scheduled an appointment and started their treatments. After doing the consultation it is determined they were not good candidates in the first place and never should have done any laser hair removal treatments. I will tell them they are very lucky nothing serious happened and sometimes something serious did happen.
Laser hair removal is not for every skin type
I have also had clients come in to MediSpa Jouvence after having treatments somewhere else. During the consultation they will tell me all the problems they had at the previous clinic, no results and burns for example. I determine during the consult they were never good candidates to begin with and that is why they have no results or were burnt during the laser treatment.
A laser hair removal consultation is a must because it has to be determined if you are a good candidate for laser hair removal. There are many factors that would prevent you from being a good, safe candidate for laser hair removal. If you don’t have a consultation how does the technician know if you will get good and safe results.
During the consultation you should be asked to fill out a number of forms, such as a medical history form and a laser hair removal questionnaire. The medical history form will indicate medications that you are taking, any medical issues, factors that may prevent you from doing laser hair removal. The laser hair removal questionnaire will indicate whether you have had laser before, the number of treatments, the type of laser, your reaction to the sun, the color of your hair and skin, for example.
Laser hair removal consultation helps tailor your treatment
During a consultation it will be determined if you are a good candidate, will the treatment achieve good results and if the treatment is safe for you. Without a consultation the technician does not have the opportunity to look into various factors that may prevent you from being a good candidate.
During a laser hair removal consultation the following must be determined:
- Are you on any medications that would make you sensitive to light?
- Does your skin have a lot of color?
- Is your hair light in the treatment site?
- Are you pregnant or breast feeding?
- Do you have epilepsy or do have a history of seizures?
- Do you suffer from migraines?
- Do you have a pacemaker?
- Do you have any hormonal issues? Are they being addressed?
- Do you suffer from any disorder that causes excessive hair growth?
If you answered yes to any of the questions above chances are you are not a good candidate for laser hair removal. If you answered yes to any of the questions above you will either not get any result or it would not be safe for you have laser hair removal. These are the factors that must be determined before anyone begins laser hair removal and without a consultation how does the technician know whether you should do laser of not. If a clinic does not require that you have a consultation before you begin laser hair removal, I would walk away. That is not a good sign.
In the next article, we will look into what causes Hirsutism.
